IEX Announces K-Day for Wings on October 27, 2016

IEX Group, Inc., a Wings Sponsor since 2012 when IEX was founded, is holding a special trading day for MDA's Wings Over Wall Street on October 27, 2016, the day of the 16th Annual Wings Gala. IEX's K-Day for Wings means that every 1,000 share print on IEX contributes to a donation to Wings. K-Day follows IEX's successful block trading day in 2015, which resulted in a $50,000 donation to Wings. This year, a block trade is not required, only a trade of 1,000 shares on the IEX exchange. The more you trade 1,000 shares on IEX the more Wings will receive to fund ALS research.

Here's how it works: On IEX "K-Day," please help us support Wings Over Wall Street by optimizing your interactions to increase the potential for trades of at least 1,000 shares.  The calculation for IEX’s “K-Day” donation are total shares traded via all trades of at least 1,000 shares multiplied by $0.0009.  Trades involving displayed shares and broker self-crosses will count towards this donation.

John Schwall, IEX's co-founder and COO, is being honored on October 27th at Wings with the. Michael P. Beier Award. Please support John and IEX and trade via the IEX exchange on October 27th so that every 1,000 share trade will result in an increased donation to Wings to help us unlock the cure for ALS.

Squire Patton Boggs’ Partner Larry Schiffer Celebrates 15 Years of Raising Funds for ALS Research

Fifteen years ago, when Squire Patton Boggs New York partner Larry Schiffer’s sister-in-law, Toni Diamond, was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), she and Mr. Schiffer’s brother, Warren Schiffer, were determined to raise funds to find treatments and a cure for ALS. Shortly after, Ms. Diamond’s disease progression accelerated and she was forced to go on a ventilator to breathe. Mr. Schiffer was approached by his brother to take the reins on the fundraising gala, while he cared for his wife 24/7 for nearly five years. She died from ALS in 2004.

Today, MDA’s Wings Over Wall Street is one of the most successful fundraisers for ALS research having put nearly US$11 million in the hands of the ALS researchers from The Robert Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins, the Eleanor & Lou Gehrig ALS Research Center at Columbia University and the ALS Research Grants program of the MDA’s ALS Division.

On October 22, 2015, at the fabulous Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, Wings celebrated its 15th Anniversary co-chaired by John Schwall, COO of IEX Group, Inc. and Lisa Utasi, Director and Senior Equity Trader at Clearbridge Investments. The Gala honored John Najarian from CNBC and optionMonstor.com with the Michael P. Beier Award, Dr. James Berry, Co-Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Multidisciplinary ALS Clinic, with the Diamond Award, and Karen Condron, artist and PALS, with the Spirit Award. Co-chairs Schwall and Utasi were also presented with special chairs awards by Warren and Larry Schiffer.

Mr. Schiffer said that the event was a significant milestone in ALS fundraising as Wings approaches the US$11 million mark and because of the significant number of drug trials and other therapies that are being tested because of the jumpstart on research provided over the past 15 years by fund raised at MDA’s Wings Over Wall Street.

“I am very proud to have played a small part in creating and developing one of the most important fundraisers for ALS research, but we still have a long way to go before we have a cure” said Mr. Schiffer. He urges those who would like to help cure ALS to join the Wings family and visit www.wingsoverwallstreet.org for more information or to make a donation.

Themis Trading, LLC Joins The Fight Against ALS on Block Day, 10/15

ALS, WOWS, IEX, and Themis Trading

http://wingsoverwallstreet.org/storage/WOW%20Bannerhttps://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/71/Iex_logo_orange.pnghttp://www.nanex.net/Themis/1215095%20%E2%80%93%20The%20Flash%20Boys%20Mystery%20Solved_files/themis-trading_02.jpg

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a very debilitating muscular disease that typically strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70. Approximately 20,000 Americans have the disease at any given time, and notable public figures that have been diagnosed with ALS include Lou Gehrig, Catfish Hunter, and Senator Jacob Javitz. Dear friends of ours have also been affected, including IEX’s John Schwall, whose dear mother Marilyn passed away from ALS in 2008.

Awareness for ALS took off globally in 2014 with the Ice Bucket Challenge. Our ALS nominating circle even brought together High Frequency Market Makers (Remco Lenterman and Virtu’s Doug Cifu), buyside heads of desks (T Rowe’s Clive Williams), Agency Brokerage firm founders (Themis’s Sal Arnuk), Exchange Operators (the IEX crew), and even Authors (Flash Boys author Michael Lewis). The global ALS Ice Bucket Challenge campaign raised over $70 million in 2014 for ALS research.

This year IEX is holding a Block Day on October 15th.

They will donate revenues from all block trades to Wings over Wall Street (WOWS). To promote IEX Block Day and to rally street support, CNBC’s Jon “DRJ” Najarian will be broadcasting live from the IEX floor.

We want to help IEX and WOWS raise money on Block Day.

On October 15th Themis Trading will additionally donate all our net commissions from our non-routable IEX trades we execute[i].

We ask your help. Partner with all of us! On October 15th won’t you make a special effort to trade with Themis, and send us orders to specifically rest on IEX?  We believe IEX is a fantastic venue that aids us in achieving best execution, and we are happy to interact with them in any manner of your choosing. We are one of the few high touch brokers who not only touch IEX algorithmically, but actually rest significant amounts of our clients’ order flow on IEX, and do so routinely, and additionally case by case at our customers’ request.

Help us make IEX Block Day a success. Help us help WOWS. And help us swing big and donate large to continue research and awareness for the very debilitating ALS.

[1] For example, if we trade 2,000,000 shares on IEX on October 15th, assuming a $0.02 commission less 9 mils, our donation will amount to about $38,000. If we trade double that, then that donation will be about $76,000. And if we trade 10,000 shares on IEX on October 15th, our donation will be $191.

Event Has Raised over $10.7 Million Since Inception.

NEW YORK, Sept. 14, 2015 – IEX, the first equity trading venue seeded by a consortium of buy-side investors, including mutual funds, hedge funds, and family offices, will host Block Day on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015 with all funds generated going to support MDA’s Wings Over Wall Street®, the largest charitable gala benefitting finding a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), most commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

"Growing up, my mother encouraged my sisters and me to spend many of our weekends raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. My mother later succumbed to ALS, but not before gifting me with a lifelong sense of purpose.  I'm honored to serve as 2015 Co-Chair for Wings Over Wall Street, the preeminent event for raising awareness and support to find a cure for ALS." Said John Schwall, COO and Co-Founder of IEX.
